Yay I'm back!! I came back last night. Flight was good, except for some turbulence that kept on occurring. All I could think of was Air France :| RIP. On the flight I sat beside the same couple that I went to HK with. we were just like. whoa.. coincidence. Then I got red wine with my meal and the flight attendant questioned whether I was over 19 -sigh-. Now these days Im just going to relish in looking young as long as possible.. even if it means getting carded ANYWHERE. But anyways, i guess the flight attendant was just teasing because later he kept on giving me baileys with my coffee and all these freebies that first class gets. yay*

im back home and i didnt think i was jetlagged. But then later this evening i closed my eyes and bam! i was out. eh!

on another note.. i totally pampered up today to refresh myself from all that traveling. Let's see, i did my nails, got a facial, AND i changed my hair :P

it's a bittersweet symphony

yesterday i went to stanley market with my 4ee and her friend. today will consist of more shopping with 5ee at causeway bay, and then dinner with goojeh at time square. i think im just going to spend all my hk dollars haha.. well its not like i have much left.

Yay! Finally made it out to LKF to experience the nightlife (btw, im getting too old to keep up) :P

Steph and I bar hopped looking for the best happyhour deals :P Yes, we got there early so we were eligible for happyhour deals :| it was fun!! we first went to 'bar george' - which actually had the best happyhour, then we bar hopped around till we landed at 'zinc'. My cousin Marjorie joined up with us after work (crazy eh? she was working till 9 on a sat night!!!!) Anyways, it was so good to see my cousin after 9 years. I miss her! I wish we lived in the same city, I could see us getting along really well!

ocean park (June 3rd)

My brethren, jon and I went to ocean park on wednesday! I got mixed reviews on this place from different ppl; personally, i loved it!! haha. but that's because i LOVE animals, I even get offended on behalf of animals. There weren't too many; there were sea creatures and pandas.

Im glad jon and my brother like animals because we were at the aquarium for literally one hour, watching fish swim by. Then we watched the pandas eat, sleep and poo for another hour.-riveting-

Rides were lame though. so lame. Good thing there was a thunderstorm in the morning because when we got there in the afternooon, there was no one around. no need to fight crowds.:)

sooon. my brethren and mother left today :( i actually want to go home too. but anyways, make the most out of it before tuesday; once i get back into TO, it's crack and study time. sigh.

may's fun boat adventures (may 31st)

May celebrated her 1/4 century bday in style by having a party on a boat! it was fun and REALLY nice to be out of the city. I dont have many pics because im actually quite lazy about taking pics. especially when i know other ppl are taking pics so... eh!

mmmm a rundown of what we did in beijing. even now im fuzzy on what we did everyday :| aging. :(

sunday may 24th - get to airport, eat, some place called 'the place', hotel (yes they were real beds. oh so comfy beds with nice comforters :) sucks that my mom snored though, i had to call reception to ask whether they had earplugs, then i realized that they couldnt understand me, so I grabbed cotton balls. but those things dont work. anyways, it was great).

monday may 25th - forbidden city, tian'an men square, some silk factory, silk mall where they had not so real things, ooh and we had peking duck!! (peking duck was goooood :) )

tuesday may 26th - great wall, jade factory, tea factory, chinese medicine place (we got our blood vessels on our fourth finger magnified.. apparentely im SUPER healthy; a british man and i had the best magnifications :D you can hear .. 'waa jang' in the background. goooo foreigners! haha. when your blood vessels are straight, you're healthy. you're not healthy when they are curvy and cross all over the place, which my mom had)

anyways.. moving on, we went to some dumpling restaurant :), acrobatic show, olympic site, then my brethren and mother went to the hospital (>felix got sick and the tourguides suggested that they go to the hospital. they said that they dont want the authorities to suspect anything and quarantine the whole tourgroup, and something about felix being from canada hahah).

wednesday may 27th - museum, chinese medicine factory (the chinese doctor analyzed my wrist and said that my spleen was weak. mmm... ok. I dont know.. Im not a strong believer in this stuff so I think I'll stick to my western medicine ...mmm iron pills), summer palace

thursday may 28th - reflexology, silk mall, airport.

So at this reflexology place, everyone got a foot massage. HOLY kangaroos, my guy was no mercy. my calves were really tight from the great wall the other day, and i guess my guy wanted to fix that.. but hell it hurt sooooo much. my brethren was sitting beside me enjoying his massage; he looks over and im like bahhhhhhhhhhhh. 'help ....me'. In retrospect, I think I should have switched to a female massagist. having some random chinese stranger massage my foot, ankle, calf ( :| ) is sketchy! plus they were joking to my mom about leaving me here in china and taking her foot massagist home instead. then they kept on telling me to smile so that they could look at my teeth. ya, one thing i noticed here is that not many ppl have nice teeth. sorry to say that. well, thank you GOD for health care in Canada. ... where's that whitening stuff again? :P

Back from beijing!

Im back from beijing! my mom, bro and i went there from may 24th to 28th. It was fun; we signed up with one of those tours and surprisingly it wasnt shabby. the ppl on the tour were really nice and on the last day, we even took a group pics. ahha.

the first day we arrived and we just ate some beijing food and then went to the hotel. btw, the toilets there are... different. they ARE modern toilets ...that are made for squatting. feels so uncivilized.

on the second day, it was the start of walking hell. we went to the forbidden city, tiananmen square, (we drove past the canadian embassy!!!! haha, felix and i were like... oooooh, and we held our passports by our hearts :) ) umm, we went to the silk mall which is haggle central ... and i cant remember what else we did. my brother and i didnt spend too much time in tiananmen square because we lost our mom. ahha. it was like.. we turn around, and she's gone. i wasnt surprised, my mom wanders quite easily and doesnt really pay attention.

so my brother, one of the tourguides and i spent about a good chunk of time looking for my mom. luckily my mom had the tourguide's number so some time later, my tourguide got a call from her. apparently she just latched onto a different tourgroup without knowing it.

anyways, beijing is nice but very polluted. traffic is chaotic. and i miss canada :( i miss my space :|

the third day we went to the great wall. my legs. oh my. at least i can say that i did climb the great wall, but it wasnt easy. coming down i was debating on just tumbling my way down so i wouldnt have to take anymore steps.



(with one of the chicks >gigi from the tourgroup. she was really nice. she spoke to me in english so i wouldnt have to suffer from muteness or humiliation with my poor.. oh so poor cantonese. they have a different way of expressing their camaraderie. gigi slaps my butt to get my attention. so did another one. hahah. even I dont really do that to my girls. eh. i guess it was nice that they felt comfortable enough to break that barrier. haha. i noticed how chummy guys are to each other. a lot of arms over the shoulder and stuff like that. but only with other guys, not with female friends. felix just said that this is how they are. i guess that's why my sister thought my cousin was gay because of how he was so physically close to one of his friends in all his pics. hahaha. just different eh?)

Wednesday, May 20th

What did I do today... hmmm let's start from the morning.

In the morning I got to go swimming in the outdoor pool of my aunt's place. It was really nice to just cool off before the heat of the day. Luckily my mom has not taken notice of my great appreciation for body art :P

In the afternoon my mom, brother and I then went to tai po. Apparently my brother got a good deal for tailored suits. I just meandered around. to me a lot of these places look the same. but maybe it's also because i just havent been around much.

I then met up with chris in mong kok. it was a smelly area. i REALLY am not a fan of smelly tofu. man that stuff smells. seriously. SERIOUSLY. why? ... why?! One of the highlights of today was when chris and i went all schoolgirl and.. *drumroll... we took stickiepics!!!! hahah. it too funny.

I bought some stuff in mong kok. I cannot bargain. Im too much of a canadian pushover to enforce what price i want. i would just be like. ohhh. ok. luckily chris was enjoying the bargaining bit of it.

for dinner i met up with family. it has been what? 9 years since i last saw them :) so it was good to eat with them. my lil cousin is named harry. funny story. he was once named hilary. no.. he did not have a sex change. ... who knows the real reason to why my aunt gave him a girl's name. all i know is that my sister and toby went to HK a couple of years ago and subtly encouraged (formerly known as) hilary to consider harry since he was a huge fan of harry potter.

somewhere... i forgot

later in the evening my brother and i met up with karen, chris and a bunch of ppl at W hotel. I like that place. It's swanky and the best part was the All you can drink for 150HK. now if only they had that in Toronto :) that would be legendary (:P)

Tuesday, May 19th

The flight wasnt too bad except that I didnt really sleep nor eat anything. I had this plan to be in a continuous state of stupor with the help of airplane wine... but that didnt follow through. (chercher: one -SIGH)

When my brother and I got to the HK airport, my mom was already there waiting for us. It was good seeing her after what.. two months? I gave her a mother's day card that I made on the plane. hahah. it was ... 'crafty'. (Gajeh: I signed for you and jeifoo)

For some odd reason my mom wanted to take pictures of my brother and i walking through the gates at the airport. It was like paparazzi! cept it was only my mom.



HK is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't handle this heat. Hot weather + fatique = one cranky benita. (Chercher: remember how hot it was in waterloo when we had no AC and all we could do was sit there and drink cold juice in front of the fan? ya it's like that but worse.) Cold showers + ice are my remedies.

I got to walk around Hung Hom with my mom in the evening. So tempted to buy shoes. But no, i didnt succumb to crazy shopping yet. But i will. oh how i will.

Monday May 18th

Monday morning was our flight to HK. My brother and I got to the airport at 6:45am because my dad is crazy and thought that we were going to be late if we didnt.

We got to our gate at 7:30.. and the flight was at 10am. :| thanks dad.

so fee and i wandered around and took pictures with these feline sculptures. who knew pearson was into pumas.
